Our Mission
The Get Out and Learn Foundation is a  501(c)(3) non-profit charity, operated for the benefit of academically motivated inner city students, providing environmental education for students from diverse backgrounds, with a special emphasis on serving at-risk youth. Our key objectives of the GOAL program are to encourage an early interest in science, technology and our global environment. The program will also focus on building self-esteem, community service, team building skills and a path to continued education.

The Get Out And Learn Foundation idea began when two childhood friends were backpacking in Yosemite National Park.
Rather than taking a few family friends on small outings, they wanted to reach children who may not have other opportunities to encounter a natural environment. Academically motivated inner city students are the focused recipients, since many of their families do not have the financial means to take vacations, or an opportunity to take time away from their jobs to explore the outdoors with their children.

The program provides an opportunity for teens and young adults to be immersed in an outdoor environment and experience their natural surroundings. The GOAL program has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to customize an outdoor experience that includes activities such as a high ropes course, canoeing, hiking, swimming, archery, target shooting, rock climbing, team leadership , problem solving and outdoor survival skills.
